The photographs show TBIBC/IBS reaching out to Dais Analytics, as Dr Yang, aka HJ, of the Chinese American Chamber of Commerce, fulfils the TBIBC/IBS mission of reaching out to local businesses who can benefit from cultural and international business competency, in order to be more successful. The design was an interactive “jigsaw-based” activity that allows networking, and engages all participants in improving intercultural and global understanding.

The first example covered the way some cultures give permission to  show feelings, and some cultures value strong control over showing feelings.

    Draft Selection Guidelines

Written by Glynis Ross-Munro, for use by the International Business Summit

The Selection Committee for the International Business Summit Diversity Awards uses the following criteria as a basis in the evaluation process of all nominations.

    Preamble:

Human differences have been a source of misunderstanding, miscommunication, lack of trust and collaboration, or outright conflict since the beginning of recorded history.

We live in an age of complexity, diversity and globalization. Organizations and their home communities prosper when they have the ability to understand, accept and benefit from difference, and to collaborate and communicate across many diversity factors.

Diversity is defined in a broadest sense by IBS. The bi-national Chambers of Commerce and Trade Associations primarily bring the resource of (a) bi-national life experience and (b) new or wider connectedness to the West Central Florida economy. Continue reading »

  • I apologize that there was not CPS newsletter in March. IBS was time-consuming. There are limitless jobs one can acquire as secretary of the Board, and I was presenting “Understanding American Culture” as well.

But it was worth it. Higgins Hall was the perfect venue, elegant, full of natural light, beautifully-maintained and decorated – and dedicated entirely to the IBS event. The break-out rooms were exactly the right size and the catering was highly satisfactory. Every speaker offered truly exciting ideas, and the lunch and speed-networking brought many people together for new opportunities. The organization went flawlessly even though there were some late nights behind the scenes. Continue reading »
