We waste an incredible amount of time in our company, writing bad emails, bad reports and also misreading documents. I skim-read things and reply to half the email or the wrong thing. Projects fail on these kinds of errors. It's a huge problem.

This is what matters is the long run:
Right now, a battle for survival has eclipsed the war for talent. Business leaders are slashing headcounts and budgets and focusing with laser vision on what it takes to succeed in a deep global recession. But when the economy recovers, companies will return swiftly to the crucial work of recruiting and retaining top performers. Renewal and growth cannot be rekindled without high-octane brain power.

Reading through this, I am reminded of Googles original manifesto (http://investor.google.com/conduct.html) "Don't be evil." Keeping it simple and conveying a brilliant message. Do not abuse the power you have been given. Although I don't know how much a massive far reaching super power like Google can prevent their employees becoming evil or abusing power. "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Having moved out of the financial services industry and into the healthcare industry, I'm seeing a new side of people. Its amazing that people are going out of their way to do good and help their fellow humans and not worrying about the money. The money will come, just begin by doing good.

I'm not sure what people need to learn, but honestly, it should be grounded with ethics.

American men could learn how to treat women from the French. When I came to the US, I always wondered why American women were much less well groomed than French women, yet also not treated as equals. I realized that it is American men.

French men look at a woman in a different way. They listen to women as business equals and they also show that they are appreciating women as works of art. Why do so many American men dismiss women who are not hot babes or obvious sources of revenue?

It is very hard to explain American gender rules, because they say one thing, but do something else.
